The Graham School Donation
With the funds raised through round-up efforts, Chipotle, in collaboration with Kids in Need Foundation, is providing core and digital learning tools, including a laptop, essential school supplies, Chipotle meal cards, and a backpack.
In the fall of 2020, Chipotle featured Kids in Need Foundation (KINF) as a Round Up for Real Change partner on its app and website. Customers were invited to round up their orders to the next highest dollar to support under-resourced teachers and students through KINF. With the funds raised through those efforts, Chipotle, in collaboration with KINF, is providing core and digital learning tools, including a laptop, essential school supplies, Chipotle meal cards, and a backpack.
In total, Chipotle and KINF are providing more than 3,100 students nationwide with the supplies they need for a successful school year.
The Graham School, a public community secondary school open to Ohio students in grades 9-12, is one of the schools selected to receive supplies to all of their students. On January 22, 2021, 230 stuffed backpacks were delivered to the school in Columbus, OH, ensuring all students have their own current-version laptop and the supplies necessary for them to learn and succeed throughout the school year.
“Today is a very exciting day for our students, and we are glad to have the support of KINF and Chipotle in making sure our students are on the path to success,” a representative from The Graham School says. “We are thankful for this opportunity to give our students brand-new laptops, Chipotle meal cards and a backpack full of essential school supplies. They’ll help ensure our students are set up for success and have fewer things to worry about during a confusing and unnerving time in their lives.”
Kids in Need Foundation is a national nonprofit that partners with under-resourced teachers and students to provide essential school supplies, empowering teachers to teach and learners to learn. Due to the extra challenges this past year has put on schools and students, Chipotle featured KINF as a Round Up for Real Change partner, allowing them to help alleviate those challenges.
“This effort provides us with the opportunity to give back to the Columbus community. That’s really important to us,” Erin Wolford, Senior Director of External Communications said. “We want to be part of and support our communities, and we’ve made it simple to set up community fundraisers, too. If there is an organization, program or nonprofit you want to support, head to community.chipotle.com to set up a fundraiser with a 25% give-back, subject to achievement of a $150 sales minimum. And, there are now digital fundraiser codes, which means it’s easier for more customers to participate and for organizations to raise more, too.”
